We just finished our
fractions chapter in math! To introduce the lesson I used the
Hershey Milk Chocolate Fractions Book by Jerry Pallotta. It is a great hands-on way to introduce fractions. The students were paired together and shared a Hershey bar. We went through the book and had them break up their Hershey bar into fractions.
Another fractions activity we did were fraction flowers! They are perfect for spring as well. I got the idea here
Fraction Flowers for FREE. Then my students wrote their own fraction sentences based on the color of petals they chose.
Some of my students even wrote theirs in cursive which we have been learning!
