Fun with Subtraction

Today we did a subtraction scoot. I posted subtraction problems all over the room and the students had to scoot to each problem and solve it. It was a fun way to practice our subtraction with regrouping and they absolutely loved it!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We also did a new activity today, we spelled our new high frequency words and spelling words with flashlights! As we write our words with our flashlight they appear on the SmartBoard!

 

Fall Favorites

We had so much fun writing about our Fall favorites! After we were done writing we created our own scarecrow for the bulletin board in the hallway.

Lunch in the Classroom

Today we got to have lunch in the classroom! Since we got 10 class Pom poms in our bucket our reward was lunch in the classroom! We also practiced our subtraction with regrouping with Halloween word problems! They got to pick from a ghost, vampire, bat, witch, Frankenstein, or mummy. It was a fun way to practice our subtraction skills!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fire Prevention

Today was Fire Prevention Day! To start off our morning we wrote letters to the firefighters to thank them for all they do. We had a ton of fun learning about all the equipment on the fire truck! We even got to go in the smokehouse and learn how to get out in case there is ever a real fire.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Types of Sentences

We have been learning about the four types of sentences, exclamation, command, statement, and question. We played 4 corners using the four types of sentences and we had a blast doing it! We also read Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late and sorted the types of sentences in the book. Then we created our own pigeons and made up our own 4 types of sentences!

2nd Grade Fun!

We have learned so much in second grade already and it has only been 12 days! We made Guess Who? Faces, wrote letters to our families, and wrote about what we wanted to be when we grow up all for back to school night!

  

 

 

 

 

We are also loving our yoga mats for reading with a buddy! This week we were reading all different stories about friends depending on each other! Here we are reading Help! A Story of Friendship.
