Using Songs to Learn!

We love to sing! We have songs to go along with so many things we are learning and sometimes we just like to take brain breaks to sing and dance! We learned a song about Main Idea to Meghan Trainor's song "No!"

We love to use GoNoodle for our brain breaks. "Milkshake" is one of our favorites...if you can't tell they have it memorized :)

Measurement and Book Tasting!

Before all of these crazy snow days this week we did a bunny drawing along with measurement which we are focusing on in math right now! I love doing directed drawings yet seeing how different all their drawings turn out. This will be our bulletin board for April!

Some other measurement fun! Measuring each other and items around the room!

We also had a book tasting last week. Each table was a different genre and they got to "taste" each book for 5 minutes. They were able to try out different genres of books they haven't read before and record what books were their favorites on their "menus." This allowed them to find books from our own classroom library that they would want to read in the future. They had a blast!!

West Fest

Today was West Fest! Everyone in our school has been preparing for a long time now and today was finally the day. The students have worked so hard and they did such a great job, I was so proud of all of them. I loved seeing their art work hanging all over the school.

For our bulletin board we read Fairy Tales and created large castle book reports in groups. They had to look up words they didn't know on the iPads. I loved seeing the castles come together in the end.

Dr.Seuss Week

We celebrated Read Across America this week by wearing something different each day to go along with a Dr.Seuss book. We also did some Dr.Seuss inspired crafts and activities throughout the week!

Doing some math around the room on crazy hat day!

We wore something with a pocket for "There's a Wocket in My Pocket!"

Fox in Socks puppets!

We made Cat in the Hat drawings and then measured how tall his hat was since we are focusing on customary measurement in math right now!

And finally we had some "green eggs and ham" as a snack!
